Our Founder on what to wear in NYC
The city that never sleeps – there’s a specific kind of energy in New York. A melting pot of world-class art, architecture, great food and, of course, incredible style. We love it so much that this was our third trip this year alone – and it was a busy one. An opportunity to capture content for our upcoming collections, a special event, a trunk show and a pop-up. When an itinerary is so jam packed, outfit planning is essential. Here’s how I wore my favourite pieces as we worked our way around the Big Apple.
The Shoot Day
Chatsworth Car Coat & Rampling Linen Trouser
Much like London, New York is susceptible to the odd change in weather, so preparation is key. For a day of shooting, we knew we’d be on our feet and that it could be a long day so I wanted something that looked great but felt super comfortable. Our Chatsworth coat and breathable Rampling linen trousers were the perfect combination for being behind the camera, capturing friends of WNU in their favourite parts of the city.

The Many Meetings
The Weekend Shirt: Hemp
The following day was a diary full of meetings in Chelsea, Soho and Bowery. The only way to do so when in NYC is over Apollo bagels and strong coffee. Here, the hemp Weekend shirt in white and Boxers in green came into their own – easy to throw on thanks to its thermodynamic credentials, striking the perfect balance between playful and put-together.
The Evening Event
Rampling Seersucker Trouser & Hutton Linen Blazer
In the evening, we decided to bring a classic pub quiz to NYC, hosting a number of old friends and new faces at the incredibly chic Bufón in the Lower East Side. The Rampling seersucker trousers were perfect for the warm evening, worn in navy with the Hutton linen blazer to elevate them for the evening. Martinis, steak, a silver-topped marmite prize and a wonderful time – all hosted by our excellent quiz mistress.

The Pop-up Shop
The Weekend Shirt: Seersucker
Our final event was a pop-up and coffee morning in the Outline store over in Brooklyn. A wonderful opportunity to meet the customers who have shown their support for years as well as new people perusing the collection. By this point, the temperature had shot up so our puckered Weekend seersucker shirt in the mocha stripe came to the rescue. Perfectly lightweight, pre-crinkled but still tailored, it’s the ultimate warm-weather shirt.
